The internship aims to introduce the student to the professional environment where they will be required to apply both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills acquired during their studies.
During the internship, the student is supervised by a responsible supervisor from the company or organization and a supervising teaching member from the Department.
In the Informatics and Telecommunications curriculum, the internship is offered after the 6th semester on an optional basis for a period of 2 months, and it takes place in both the public and private sectors, as well as in European Union companies within the framework of European programs. To participate, the student must have previously passed at least 25 compulsory courses. Students who complete an internship will receive a certificate of internship along with their degree, stating the host of the internship. Additionally, the completion of the internship will be recorded in the Diploma Supplement. More information about the internship can be found in the internship regulations of the Informatics and Telecommunications curriculum and on the University website (http://gpa.uoi.gr/)
In the Computer Engineering TE curriculum, the internship is offered in the 8th semester, for a period of 6 months, and it takes place in both the public and private sectors, as well as in European Union companies within the framework of European programs. To participate, the student must have previously passed at least 27 courses, including all specialty courses (i.e., all courses of the sixth and seventh semesters, compulsory and elective) or/and have successfully passed at least 30 courses.
More information about the internship can be found in the internship guide of the Computer Engineering TE curriculum on the University website (http://gpa.uoi.gr/)
Some students during their internship are funded by the ESPA. The criteria used for ranking student candidates for funding from the ESPA are the Grade Point Average (GPA) with 70% and the year of study with 30%, with the GPA being multiplied by a factor of 1.5 if the internship is conducted in a private sector entity. Specifically, the ranking is done by the internship committee based on the formula:
V =[( 14 * (GPA – 5) + 10 * (7– YEAR))]*Entity
Where: V is the student's score, GPA is the student's Grade Point Average, YEAR is the year of study, Entity Private =1.5 Public =1
In case of a tie, the student with the higher Grade Point Average takes precedence. If there is still a tie, the student in the lower year of study takes precedence, and finally, the one who has successfully passed the most courses.
Regulations for working students in informatics or telecommunications
